I don't understand this desire to send a bunch of armed men into a residence at odd hours (or any hours) when in a case like this they could easily just tail the dude and conduct the arrest.

It seems to me that SWAT is way overused for stupid shit like this -- practicing medicine w/o a license requires a SWAT raid? Please. If I was SWAT, I'd be pissed about being used in a dynamic fashion on such a non-threat (before they forced the issue). IMO, SWAT should only be used in situations which actually necessitate it due to the danger they face ANYTIME they conduct entry.

Hey how are podunk towns supposed to hire and fund a SWAT team unless the Mayor and Chief get up in front of a press conference and say "We had to use the SWAT team 247 times last year!" When all those calls ended up being things like unpaid library fines, or lying to the FBI?
