My grandson's in the Navy, stationed at Tinker AFB in OKC, in an E6-B Mercury squadron, tired old Boeing 707's. He says he's hearing rumors of those being replaced with C-130's, hopefully they'd be the latest and greatest versions.Quote:

Grandson was originally supposed to go to an Osprey squadron to do carrier onboard delivery duty, but they didn't have enough planes, so they sent him to the Mercury's. We feel much better about those than the Osprey's.
My brother-in-law went to Reno. Air races last weekend, left about a half hour before the T-6’s crashed.

When the DC-3 Turbofan Basler conversion was new, a few of them were running around Africa doing stuff. This one crashed in Angola a few months after this picture. This was taken somewhere over Sudan/Eithopia or Rwanda from what I remember.
