The t-case flange had to be made anyways in order to do a CV rear shaft for my t-case. Also my t-case should be gone through as well due to it being 40 to 50 yrs old. I agree you really need to know wtf you're doing while assembling diffs. All that said, running 37 inch tires with 3:73 gears might not be in the ballpark for t-case gearing remedies in my t-case. I don't know.

Jim came out and saw what I had, I went with his recommendations. I feel bad leaving the guy hanging a bit, I'm better than that and it bothers me. I'm a bit under the gun regarding many things over the next two months alone. I really am trying to get all I can get done, as fast as I can with all the stuff going on.

And all of that doesn't include the shit I'd need to do to my dad's van just to get it running, and that's in my face too. Fuk.

Is 3:73 gears what he recommended, or what you're running before the new gears?

I didn't know that about differentials until recently, so I'm curious if it's the same with T-case gears. I was all gung-hoe to just order the gears and install myself, but not if you're supposed to have expertise in order to do it.

Not really. Both stores list 2 differentials the 30 & 44 Dana. Yet there are 1/2 doz different dana / spicer differentials.

My Amigo has a Dana 44 with LSD. One of the many variations I suppose.

No, the tire size would require 4:56 to get back to stock 7.3 diesel acceleration standards. Remember my truck is a bit Frankensteined.

Feeler gauges, torque wrenches, possibly specialty tools for holding or setting play. Most you should be able to rent at the local auto parts shop.

Plenty of room to set the t-case out w/out any disturbances. So with your work, where you're possibly going in to the busy season. Pay the xtra cash (if you can afford it) for a plug n play unit.

Or remove it now and wonder where that 8mm e clip went around 2 a.m, sometime in sept. You seem determined to tackle most any mechanical task, whether you're suited for it or not. Nothing like otj training, to further your wrenching skills .

But do you have to set tension in a t-case like you do in a diff? I really don't know. bolting on parts is bolting on parts. If I'm going to have to learn specialized skills, I'd rather it be welding so I can fab my own stuff. That's next by the way. Skid plate and rock sliders.
