It's the quail, called Gambels Quail for this area. Last week down your road 1 adult was standing in the middle of it. Then from the left side about 10 babies came wandering out crossing to the other side. They were maybe the size of hummingbirds.

That little bird that landed on the owl's back in mid flight was really bad ass though. I'll never forget that.
