I ended up using a spreadsheet to compare the offerings, particularly ink page counts vs. replacement costs. Some of the cheaper printers will cost you way more in ink. Sometimes it's almost cheaper to just throw the printer away when it runs out of ink and get another. Fortunately I had just done the research for my folks when I needed more ink for mine. Was cheaper to replace than to keep feeding my old printer ink.
I've been really happy with my HP OfficeJet Pro 8710. Double sided printing (duplexing) built-in.
