Well, okay. So how'd ya do?
Did you pay for a lease, private hunt, family property? Drive around, spot & stalk. Give us some details.
I would assume you could do some driving and hope to spot, then ask a landowner if you can take care of the problem. Or is it all about money, you pay them to take care of their problem? I'd rather spot, stalk, ask permission as opposed to coughing up money for a private ranch guided pig hunt. And can you hunt them in the day? Many seem to do their hunting at night, I'm not set up for that.

I was on the OK side of the OK/TX line last week. Hunting was crap until the last night, then things go exciting. we trusted the outfitter to much and didnt rely on our own good senses until the last night... anyways, it was a hell of a time on a big ranch 3K+ acres with no rules. unlimited hogs and a ranch truck at our disposal.

The OP- looks like an awesome place to go and relax and hunt/fish!

Killed 12 or 13 altogether. We were out near Henrietta not far from Wichita Falls. Lots of cattle being run down there. Spotting isn't too productive as the terrain is pretty flat. Check for tracks in the river bottoms they're not too hard to find. Then jump them like rabbits. There's no reason you can't hunt them in the daytime. Just be prepared with a low power scope/red dot or iron sights. You really gotta kick some brush to make them jump. They'll stay put as long as they can. Again like rabbits. Some guys swear by .223. .223 will do the job if you're shooting them stationary or off a feeder(head shots). Personally I'd sling nothing less than .243 at them. The key is to hit them hard the first time. I like head and neck shots. Use good bullets but don't spend serious dough. Corelokt or Super X will suffice. Hit them hard, for some reason a sqealing dying pig really spooks up the other pigs. Don't get crazy with camo and what not. Pigs can't see for shit. Wear earth tones. Hunt upwind. Gut/skin them quick. Check for previous wounds. Toss anything that might be infected. A lot of these pigs have been shot at before. Don't listen to any of this "feral pigs are nasty" bullshit. They cook up just fine. PM me for cooking info.

A buddy of mine raises cattle on his ranch in Wimberley TX. Said he drives around his property daily and finds 20-30+ groups of hogs. Said they're like roaches. Built a .300 Blackout for this with a micro dot and magnifier. He told me he regularly shoots them max 100yrds, but majority are 25-50yrds. I need to find a way to ship the meat back home. My buddies backed out so I guess I'm going alone. Whatever.

Most of the processors/butchers will deep freeze and ship your meat packed in dry ice to wherever you want. I shot a couple of nice little eaters last year and had them shipped. Young ones tastes like domestic pigs. In my experience, older ones are usually very very lean and taste like shoe leather unless you grind them into sausage. Shoot every pig you see of course but find a fat little 70 pounder or two if you're looking for meat. Leave the rest in the mud.

300BO is a great pig killer. I'm not sure if I've ever taken a shot farther than 75yds when hunting them. My dad just purchased .458Socom upper for his monthly hunts and apparently pigs don't argue much with that round either. I usually hunt with a 45-70, 270, 30-30, or 7.63x39. Each worked very well.

I set up a pump 30-06 for my hunt... would like to switch to a 30 caliber AR platform. weight savings, semi auto and infinite choices of optics.

Was this a private setup, or sometning that anyone can book ? I'm interested. I went to Wichita falls last year and shot pigs on public land. Would much rather do it in a private setting.

its something that anyone can book. it was a private outfitter on his land- so his rules (very few of those). I am happy to PM the link- but please do not take that as an endorsement, as I would not put my name on this place.
