I've been at Bowers the past few days, first to pick up a lower and some parts and yesterday to get my SR-15 looked at. Not only did they fix the issue but walked me through exactly what was wrong, how they diagnosed it and other things to look for. These guys really take the time with their customers and that is a rare thing.

I called yesterday, because a friend of mine had his ar blowup on him. Mike said to bring everything down so Rob could look at it. They determined that the ammo was at fault, my buddy couldn't believe how knowledgeable they are. A big thanks for taking the time to help out a fellow shooter. YOU GUYS ROCK!

Saturday a gentleman brought in a 1911 from a respected manufacturer, but somewhat sheepishly, because he had had an ND... or so it seemed.

But, it turns out the combination of a very loose plunger tube, and a misfit safety caused the hammer to be pushed off of the sear by the top of the safety bar, and hold only on the safety itself, causing a fire on safety release.
Without being a 1911 armorer, the cause of the failure would not have been obvious.

The owner had OBSERVED RULE 1, keeping the firearm in a safe direction, so damage was minimal, and no one got hurt. He had done his job.

A combination of a poorly fit factory part (it had been finished over the fitting area, so it was not altered) and the unnatural wear points it created (finish cut and notching at the top, instead of bottom of the safety engagement) caused a dangerous situation the owner could not have reasonably controlled, especially with no prior evidence of malfunction.

So, as much as we want to look to ourselves, in this case the manufacturer did wrong. No manufacturer gets it right 100% of the time.

If you have a gun youve had problems with, dont chase it, break it, ir sell it before you take a chance to bring it by. We may see something that could make you a happy shooter again.

Big thumbs up to this team! Took my teenager there after a tournament to look around. Super nice and friendly folks. They let us fondle several fun toys. When it comes time to getting my next toy I will be shopping here.
