What do you do with a coyote after you kill it? People don't eat those do they?

Sorry I've never hunted so I guess it never occurred to me before to think about how you dispose of an animal that you don't eat, like squirrels, coyotes, and some birds.

**I'm not some anti trolling the site trying to start an argument, I just really don't know.*

    Thanks.

To be fair, some people still eat squirrels. My dad once fed squirrel stew to the neighbor. I have a friend who skins and keeps coyote pelts. Some folks like to decorate with them.

I personally started shooting coyotes at the farm as pest control. The kept eating our chickens and cats.

I have a coyote skin (from a yote that I didn't shoot) on my coffee table - in fact, it's right next to my feet right now.

I'm fond of the idea of keeping the skins and having them tanned for decoration purposes. I've often wondered what to do with the rest of the carcass. Since I haven't been afforded an opportunity to hunt them yet (since I was a kid) it hasn't been an issue - yet! "Back in the day" we used to just leave the carcass laying in the field or toss them into a ditch on our property.

(BTW: I used to have to eat squirrel stew and fried squirrel growing u pback in Missouri - I detested it! Okay, now I'm really feeling like the Ozark Hillbilly I was as a kid and thought I grew out of). Anyone else hearing banjo's?

My Dad, Ole' Kansas farm boy, related a story of His youth, that He had whacked a few one year.. And, had the brillant idea of making a blanket out of the hides.. Tried too get His sister to sew them together, She more or less told Him where He could put them..

I have a friend who is a Ph.D. at Denver Seminary, and grew up in the Permian Basin area of West Texas. Seems like for a while there, he was doing everything he could to exorcise his inner redneck.

I kept telling him a sign of maturity is making peace with that inner redneck. It adds flavor to life like spices to good stew.

He currently drives a multicolored pickup with a rusted out bed that he rebuilt himself. I think I can rightly look in the mirror and say, "mission accomplished!"

(BTW, he wants to take up coyote hunting too, having whetted his appetite on antelope and elk these last few years. Good guy.)

I aim to skin my first Yote (assuming it ain't got the mange, the coat is nice, and I don't get fleas skinning him), getting it tanned, and adorning my den with it. I will leave the yote meat to the crows.

Could you hunt coyote effectively with a bolt action or lever action gun? Is .308 too much? I'd really like to go hunting but don't have a rifle yet. Oh yeah, nice board guys. I've been wasting my time over at arf.com all this time.
