Default N00b looking for a place to shoot, within an hour or so of denver.

Im fairly new to shooting. I know the basics like "act as if the gun is always loaded" and so forth, but where can I go to shoot, without it being to crowded?
Also any "Beginners guide to shooting" type stuff would be appreciated as well. Thanks.

Are you looking for a public/indoor style type of range, or an outdoor public land type of spot? Also, are you on the South end or North end of Denver?

I would also suggest a firearms safety/handling/shooting course, very worth while. It's much easier to learn good habits than it is to break bad ones. You also might want to check out a club shooting event for this site, lots of knowledge to be had, and the members here are more than happy to help.

    Welcome to the site.

Yes, The club shoots,, Both spots are fairly close.. Not maybe within a hour depending on where You live.. I can get to the north spot within 45 minutes,, and the south spot in about a hour and a half or so.. and I live in Westminster.. I've just been going to the south site mainly 'cause I don't have to try and drag My foot up the hill..

Yes, We do have a bunch of People that are a hell of a lot smarter than they look... And, more than willing to help You anyway they can..

    Next one is Jan. 10..

I am looking for public lands (outdoor)to go shoot. Im also very self concious about picking up my own trash, and most likely will be picking up others, if some slobs leave it behind.

Anything withing 2 hours of lakewood would be fine. Im right by Casa Bonita.

How do these club shoots usually go? Any more details on the safety courses you speak of?

Club shoots are fairly informal.. So, you can spend the time shooting or learning..If You are willing to drive down to the Springs or up to Clear Creek,, I'm sure the Boys would be more than happy to have at IDPA..

That would give you some education..

Check the shooting locations thread tacked in club events. Gives directions to the South Site which is probably the closest one for you. Otherwise, all that green area on your state of Colorado map is fair game.
