This is a major one right there. I don't plan or expect any one true emergency scenario. Weather, economic collapse, energy crisis, food crisis, pandemic, race wars, natural disasters, etc. All are viable possibilities.

Economic collapse. I don't think it is "imminent" at all, but I do think it is inevitable since no will at the fed and many of the state govs to do anything but make it worse. Can be many possible tipping points - most likely to me is hyperinflation caused by inability to borrow the huge sums to keep funding everything. One the entitlement class stops receiving their free stuff, look out. While a race war may also be possible, I see this mostly confined to the larger cities.

Just a thought as well... If you suddenly had no water out of the tap... do you know of any place to get water in your neighborhood to filter/render safe to drink????

when you are driving to/from work... take mental note of the running streams and if they are full of water at different times of the year.

Also, cattails are great sources of food. ;-)
Your hot water and toilet tanks, I have a non-potable well and lake is .4 mi from the house.

Weather is top for me, with possible tornadoes in the summer and blizzards in the winter. Also been getting silver bars at a slow pace for possible economic problems, even been getting some 1 gram gold pieces and some copper rounds to have different types to trade with. Also started grabbing some items to help just in case of a massive disease outbreak. I hope to have at least some protection against a variety of scenarios. I watched a few episodes of Doomsday Preppers and realized that some of them are very prepared for one or two scenarios, but if something else happened they wouldn't be as prepared as they think.

I try to keep it as practical as possible. I prep for any event that would cause a failure in the supply chain for food, water, or other household essentials for a month or more.

Some things that could lead to supply chain breakage: natural disasters (fires, floods, snowstorms, cosmic events), unnatural disasters (riots, terrorism, political devolution, idiocracy), and the one thing that I am certainly NOT prepped for, but I do believe will eventually come: real economic collapse.

Like lots of folks here, my preps are slowly growing as I have the money. However, with a newborn in our family now, my vision of being a "Patriots" style commando has faded to more realistic goals of being able to provide for my family and survive whichever events I deem most likely to occur (which is a discussion all on it's own).

    Noted. Valid point.
