I don't think the economy will drive completely over a cliff to take us into Mad Max times, or that the ChiComs will nuke Denver. I'm just not expecting full-on TEOTWAWKI.
Bad weather, HazMat releases, civil disorder, and a side order of people whose SHTF preps involve helping themselves to mine, are my big threat scenarios.
In order of priority.
1) Loss of income. Figure if all else fails we eat off the preps. ( although was informed today by a zombie at work, "you can get money for food from government)
2) Natural disaster, bad weather, contaminated water or lack of.
3) Civil unrest or pandemic.
4) EMP or worse.
Progressive ideology, ideas so good they must be mandatory.

Economic collapse is my big shtf scenerio. Otherwise its mainly for being more self reliant and personal shtf scenerios loss of job etc. Of the few "doomsday prepper" I've watched not one made really any sense or was sensible imo but they did show some good ideas to implement if ever needed.
Most likely disaster?
I was just thinking ( I do that every know and than ) what do you guys think is the greatest threat to us as far as a surviaval situation?? EMP? Flooding? Riots? I could see an uprising against the government happening. Don't know if it will be in our time frame, but I could see it. I was watching the new Red Dawn and started thinking what would be the most plausible scenario that would happen. Just thought it would be fun tod hear your thoughts!
