Default Post 64 Winchester Model 70 Super in .338wm

As the title states, I have a Post 64 Winchester Model 70 Super in .338wm. Unfired and in near mint condition.

I've got a nice .308 long range rifle, but I'm thinking about building something up that goes a little harder and a little further. The plan is to get a nice brake on it and drop into a McMillian A4/A5.

The gun is post-64 which bumps it down for collector desirability.

Regarding brass and ammo - I've got more than enough to run it for a very long time.

So should I try and build this into a moderate long range rifle, or should I just keep it in my safe for collection purposes?

*Note: I hate keeping around guns that I can't shoot!

Any comments or suggestions are welcome!

Some of the earlier purpose built military sniper rifles were based on the M70 action. Build it up and you have a distance thumper.

338 WM doesn't have enough case capacity to take advantage of the high BC bullets . Your better off rebarreling in 300 WM or 7 RM

Thank you for the insight. I currently have around 170 rounds of .338wm. Which is why I'm considering doing this. A different caliber isn't an option for this gun.

I was about to say the same thing, I was looking at one a couple years ago but a good buddy of mine talked me out of it for the same reason
