Yeah, they've gotten smarter overall, running for cover now before we can even get out of the truck. We could hike it, but the first discharge gets the rest within ear shot running underground as well. The trick has been to set up and take the shots farther away. That and we've been working on simultaneous shooters on multiple or single targets, reducing their reaction time and increasing our kills. Yesterday, my average kill was 200 yards, with extended shots at 360 yards. The longest kill was at about 440 yards. The further the distance, the more follow up shots we were afforded.

Still, using an off the rack, $400 bolt action rifle with just an 18x power scope, on a wavering target the size of a shoe, is no easy task at those distances. Also, if that prego I blew up with (7) offspring is consistent with their average reproduction rate, there should always be more varmints than V-MAX!

When you shoot them unless you kill about 70% it just stimulates more reproduction. Of course the ones you miss get a little smarter but not really.
