I know it costs $$$ for any solution, but PPoE is the best choice for the house. For a spotter, get one of those battery jumper dodads, and 2 laptops (1 with a camera) as a possible idea. The one with a camera goes down range, and the other stays at the bench. Remote into the camera system and there you go. You're limited to about 300yds though with the laptops minus the in between router. If you really want to make it work better, get a second battery pack, put it halfway in between with a good wireless router and a wireless camera that has PTZ...

12v DC to 120V AC conversion:

Wireless Router:

SW for 2 laptop solution:
I run linux mostly, so I use VNC. If you run windows you can install VNC on it, or you can just use remote desktop. Cameras are a dime a dozen, but if you want to make your life easy get a PTZ usb camera...

If your not going to use the 2nd laptop, use the above mentioned camera or something like it. Your biggest issue is power...the bigger the battery pack the longer you're shooting. If you get the router/wireless gizmo, it will make your life a whole heck of a lot easier. It basically comes down to money...
The more i think about it, scrap the 2nd laptop...
