Default Remington Eddystone Model of 1917

I just made a trade and have acquired a Remington Eddystone Model Of 1917. A mixmaster like most but with a barrel date of 8-18 and the serial number on the receiver dating to September 1918 they are most likely original to each other. The rifleing is in great shape, shiny, no pitting and strong lands and grooves. The stock was lightly refinished at sometime so the few cartouches and proofs that remain are very light and there is evidence of a small repair. Metal is fairly nice with a patina and there is slight pitting, maybe 50%+/- bluing left. The bolt works smoothly and there are no rattles. It even came with a original 1917 bayonet that looks refinished and it has been sharpened, no scabbard.

I will take some time in the next week or two to de-stock her, do some clean up and then out to the range to see how she shoots. Fits right in with my SC 1903A3 and my SA M1. Now I need to trade for a M1 carbine or a K98k.

Nice one. Probably a ww2 refurb and the bayonet looks like it's a p14 bayo or a trench shotgun bayo-the grips on the p17 bayo should be slabside as opposed to the ones with the grooves in them.
    But either way definitely nice!
Might want to check out Liberty Tree Collectables to see if they have a scabbard for it.
Once you shoot it you'll be amazed at the accuracy you can get out of it

I'm looking forward to shooting it if the weather will cooperate for a few more weeks. The bayo' says 1917 on it but I will do some more research on it over time. Thanks for the tip on the scabbard. I may PM you with a question or two down the road if you don't mind?

I wish I could get out and run some of mine before the snow flies
It could be the original grips then.My bayo has the slabside grips and is a 1917 but then is also re issue stamp of 1925.Now I want to get some more research in to see what was made when and so forth.
By all means,pm me anytime I'll try to help out the best way I can or point you in the right direction

I have an Eddystone 1917. It was my first rifle, given to me by my father not long before he passed. It is very special to me.

Now you need to find a P14 Enfield to match it!

That would be too cool! If one comes my way and in my trade or price range I'll snag it. But first, I want a M1 GI carbine, looking to trade for a decent one. My eyes are wide open for mant different WWI, WWII and Korean War firearms. Then will come British, German, Rusian and Jap rifles and carbines. I'm patient and can wait for the right items to come my way.

Check the "Photo Gallery - Post a picture of your latest purchase thread". After casually looking for for a P14 for a few years I came across one in my price range. There is a picture in the "Latest Purchase" thread. They are both Eddystones.
