    Default Self reliance expo 2013

The wife want to check it out. It looks like there are a lot more exhibitors this year, so maybe it'll be worth the price of admission. I'll be there tomorrow night.

I thought about going but with the wife out of town I would have to bring the 3 year old along and I don't think he'd appreciate it as much as I would.

that sounds good - the one in the springs was a bit small - ok; down right tiny - I went to the one last year and it was "ok".

Thinking about it. Talked to someone else who wasn't impressed the last one she went to. Though I'm not sure if she meant one in CO Springs or Denver.

We went and enjoyed it. There were more vendors than I expected. A. American was there giving away signed copies of his two books which I felt offset the price of admission. plus the boys both got to shoot at the Appleseed display and both got free mugs for their mother the coffee fiend.

I went as well. If nothing else, it gets the wife on board with being prepared for possible emergencies. The downside: I got to spend most of Sunday clearing out a space in the crawlspace to use as a shelter against possible tornadoes, and stocking up the supplies down there. We looked at some of the stuff from TopPackGear.com , and while a little pricey, they do use quality stuff. More importantly, they list the exact contents of their kits on their website, which gives a good start on a personalized kit. One item that I saw in one of their kits was of particular interest: The Biolite stove, which is your basic rocket stove with a thermoelectric module to run a fan for more efficient combustion, and it also can provide USB power for charging lights, phones, radios, etcetera.

This past hunting season I was buying new gear and came across the Biolite stove. Pretty cool concept but I ended up buying a JetBoil instead because I have been using GoalZero dolor products for awhile in order to charge portable devices.
