    Default Canvas Tent Repair

I guess this is a good of a place as any to post this. MODs, if there is a better location please move - thanks!

I have a GP Medium tent that after being is storage for a while is in need of canvas repair. Small holes and tears, but it's going to see a lot of hard use, so I'd like to have the repairs professionally done. I'm looking to see if anyone here has experience with repairing the tent canvas, and can recommend a shop to have the work done. Anything in particular to look out for when checking the work?

Also, since I'm anticipating some new wear to develop as the tent is used, I'm looking for suggestions on what to keep as a repair kit. I've seen the military repair kits, but for the cost I'm sure the same effect can be achieved for less cost. Any input is greatly appreciated!

    Thanks!

Davis Tents is a local manufacturer of canvas tents. We use their stuff for elk camp. I bet they could help you out. http://www.davistent.com/

Call REI in Denver and ask them who they have their rental stuff repaired by. REI doesn't deal much in canvas, but the same folks that stitch webbing on backpacks tend to have sewing machines capable of stitching canvas.

I have had good luck using canvas awning shops. I am sure there are many in your area to choose from.

call a boat dealer, ask who does the best canvas covers around.
Those people know canvas. And boat covers up here don't last long in the sun, i'm sure they'll put you in touch with the right people
