We had a penny can stove thread here a few years ago. I've built three or four of them. I think there are better designs than that one. Would you like me to dig up a few Youtube videos? There are about 100 different Youtube videos of penny can stoves. They are fun. Zippo fluid works great. DO NOT USE COLEMAN WHITE GAS. DO NOT USE COLEMAN WHITE GAS.

EDIT: After watching this video, and seeing how it works, I actually like this method a lot.

I made one like this kind, but found it needed a stand because if I put a pot right on top, it would go out. This video is good to watch because the cutting method used is better.

I've built a few as well but ended up going with a brasslite stove for my kit. I could never get the performance out of the penny stoves that I wanted.

I have made and tested a few and they never impressed me much for the style of backpacking i do. They work but when you add altitude and wind to the mix they fall short of how my white gas/multi-fuel stoves perform. I do like the idea of an alcohol stove because in one bottle you have fuel, something to clean wounds with, a disinfectant and if you use Everclear something to drink if you wanted.
They are cheap and easy to put together so why not make a few and see how you like them.
