GMU 29
I put in for deer in GMU 29 this year frankly since I'm starting over in my career and have no vacation, 29 is close so I can do weekends and a couple of afternoon hunts.
Anyone hunt deer in that area? I've been in the Mt. Alto area via Gold Hill. That area has well maintained roads and heavily used so I'm not heading back there. Drove through Sugerloaf one morning and obviously that's where all the animals feel safe, it's all private property. I have been to Caribou by Nederland maybe 20 years ago hiking, but haven't made it back since, may try that this weekend.
I'm hunting 3rd right now with my son and I put in for 4th for myself just to spread things out and try to pad our chances. We both have buck tags, son passed by two forkhorns, and that's all we've seen, other than the trophies on private property.
Anyone have any GMU 29 pointers they'd care to share? I'll be looking at the map tonight and going back somewhere this weekend.

Explored and never really found any nice spots. Lots of hikers, cyclists, joggers etc however that was due in part to a very warm 3rd season.
Son had the opportunity at 2 fork horns and a 3x3 - big fork horn with brow tines - but he wanted something bigger, which we never saw. He came home empty handed but I asked and he said he had no regrets.
I'm going to look at Magnolia and Switzerland trail, haven't been there yet, along with a few other places, lots of exploring to do, just need to find the time to do it.
Talked to a DOW officer, he said a couple elk had been pulled out of the Gross res area. He also said that place was really crowded this past weekend, so I steered clear.
