Well I have owned a pair of the original Rocky S2V boots since 2009 and after thousands of miles up and down mountains, forest trails, creeks, canals, rivers, puddles and hardtop surfaces I can honestly say that these are the nicest most comfortable, and durable boots I have ever owned and used. My first pair are finally retired due to the outsole being worn smooth. Which brings us to the downside or cons if you will of these boots.
Cons:
- they cant be resoled. Vibram wont sell the proprietary sole, and every cobbler I have called, emailed, or spoke to has told me this. I even emailed Rocky and they gave me the same story with zero explanation as to why.
- Prohibitive Cost. Some folks cant afford $200 every 2 years for boots.
And thats it.
Pros:
- Weight. Very little
- Durabilty.
- Comfort. For me absolutely zero break in time. Several Scout Snipers, SWCC, Soldiers, and Sailors related the same experience to me as well.
- Ankle stability. With most boots your foot will set on top of the boots outsole, with these your foot sets inside the outsole giving excellent yet comfortable ankle protection. I have never rolled my ankles with these boots.
- Selection: Rocky makes these in Tan, Coyote, Black and Sage colors. In 400 gram thinsulate, Goretex waterproof version, and the new hot weather lightweight jungle boot. I own a pair of each of the first two styles in Tan. Boots are offered in standard and Wide sizes.
