I smoked a coyote head on at about 50-60 yards with a 125 Nosler Ballistic Tip. It was kinda messy. The pelt was a total loss.

I'd love your opinion on 300BLK and hunting in general. 300BLK is a nice round to "fix" the .224+ caliber requirement in Colorado for stuff like pronghorn, deer, etc.

Our neighbors to the north allow 5.56/223 for antelope and deer, but the nonresident tags are too expensive for my liking.

A ballistic tip was messy? Say it ain't true. LOL.

I once shot a 3x3 at about 10' with an AR and 50gr bal tip. I was calling coyotes, blowing a dying rabbit call and he came out bristled up swinging his head. Not sure his intentions, but wasnt about to be gored or bred. . I found the deer but not a single drop of blood.

as was stated above, the bullet type is going to determine how messy it gets.
