Hello,
Anyone know of a decently priced taxidermist around Denver or CO Springs?
I want to get some elk antlers mounted correctly.
I'm afraid it might be a hack job if I did it myself.
Thanks!

Any taxidermist should be able to do just a horn mount the key is how much you want to pay. I did a full head antelope about 5 years ago and Tanglewood do that job for about $150 last year I did just a horn mount from an antelope and Tanglewood was the cheapest at $150 just for a horn mount. Just start making some phone calls and see how much it's going to cost.
I've always been very happy with Timberline taxidermy here in Colo Spr, but they aren't cheap.
I just met a guy recently at one of the committee meetings for the Pike Peak Chapter of the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation who is starting his own taxidemy business. I've seen some of his work and it's real nice. Since he's just developing his client base he doesn't have teh higher prices a lot of the other places have. He's in the Springs too. Here's his info:

I will try to post a picture of my antlers that he has done. I just got last years bull a couple days ago from him. I think he is in canon city but drives up to Denver quite regularly.
I'll take some pictures of my mounts later today and get them put up here for you to check out.
Tanglewood is fine. And affordable.
Anderson Taxidermy (303) 973-2933 in Littleton near Ken Caryl and Wadsworth is absolutely superb. Not sure you need that for a horn mount, but he does the best work I've seen, and is award winning.
This guy is really good.

He is out east of parker. He did a full body African lion mount that is in the Smithsonian. I have had him mount antelope and mule deer horns and he did a great job.
Thanks for all the info! I've got some phone numbers to call now!

It was eight years ago so I don't remember how much I paid.
