Reliable scope and even 700 factory heavy barrel should not do that.
Even people with good long range experience can be disturbed by phone calls, friend talking to you about hot chick at the range, etc.
Besides potential human error. Here are variables:
1. Severe cross wind over 20mph during your 4th 5th shot.
If the scope has adjustable parallax, the error could easily be 6" or more.

There are a whole bunch of thing's that could cause it and there is not enough info given to make an educated response .
The 2 most likely things are shooter error and shity ammo , take your pick ,both are equally plausible with the info provided .
Everything else is just guess work .
On a serious note this is a 5 shot group of hand loaded 308's from a bone stock rem 700. I am by no means a good shooter. Technically speaking I'm not worthy to hold the umbrella over hoser, islandermyk, or Tim K's head on a sunny day at the range.
