i was sitting in the back of that class. Passed the technician exam and got half of the general right. Studying for the general now that I'm on a roll. Probably will take it again in a few weeks.

Thats the attitude! I didn't think General was much tougher than Tech - and aced General while missing 2 on Tech. I think of General as almost a necessity if you want to do HF comms...

Quick question - I have a scanner at home that I usually listen to local PD and Fire on but it can scan HAM frequencies. Are there a few frequencies around here that are popular? I put one or two in from the ReaterBook app but only heard Morse Code on one at lunch.
That is probably the repeater identifying itself.
I have this one dialled in all the time: http://www.repeaterbook.com/repeater....54rsb6Jh.dpbs
There is activity on it in the morning and in the evening for some folks commuting to and from work. If I am in the car I am always listening to this, while scanning the memory on my mobile on the other receiver.

Popular repeaters with most activity would be:
145.145
147.225
449.350 maybe
145.310
and a few others. Look up the following clubs repeaters:
Colorado Repeater Assoc (CRA)
Denver Radio Club (DRC)
Rocky Mountain Radio League (RMRL)
Was anyone just on the Colorado Connection Repeaters net? Listened a bit on my scanner.
