Default Confirming Date of Manufacture on Bushmaster AR

I picked up a Bushmaster AR a few weeks ago that I'm pretty sure is pre-94, and I'm trying to confirm that. I called Bushmaster, they told me that based on the serial number, it was made in their old facility in Windham, Maine (Roll mark confirms this), which means it was made before 2001, but they have sent all their records for that time frame on to ATF. OK, I talked to the Denver ATF office and was directed to ATF's Out of Business Records section, where I was told (none too politely), that they only did records inquiries for law enforcement. Anybody have any idea who else I might be able to talk to, or am I SOL? What I'm looking for is a confirmed date of manufacture for this particular rifle. Everything I'm finding on the Web shows that this is a pre-94 rifle, I just need to confirm the born on date.

    Thanks!

Wet the receiver with some CLP. If it has a purplish hue it is an older Bushy.
Call Wyndham Weaponry, they are old Bushy employees and they may be able to give you some insight.
I am questioning the date they gave you of 2001, IIRC Bushmaster was bought by the Freedom Group in 07-08. A noticeable change in quality was evident.

GTA- Thanks, and please keep me posted.

Bert- Forgot to mention, I did call Windham, and the guy I talked to told me point-blank that it is a pre-94 lower, but he can't verify that. The serial number on my lower is L054XXX, and according the guy at Windham, post-94 AWB serial numbers start at L063000. Ain't a doubt in my mind that it's pre-94, I'm just looking for a confirmed born-on date if I can find one.
