Default Heading out to Fort Carson-Cheyenne Mountain Shooting Complex

I haven't been out there yet and the last time I looked it only allowed you to shoot to 600. I don't think they had the longer range areas finished yet.
Anyone want to go? Just called and the RO said no wind and 1000 yard steel is available.

Range was laid out nice and the RO's on site were very helpful. The person I talked to on the phone must have been on crack because I saw no steel past 625-650. No way they had the distance to place a target at 1000 with the hill as a back stop, unless it was right on top of the crest. Fun afternoon and they only charged me $5.00

It's pretty alright, and a huge step up from the 'public' place East of the Springs.

Do they have a Bow area and a .22lr area?

    Benches or offhand?

Do you have to bring anything (target holders, ECI, etc)?

You must of went when they had that half off day. But overall that place is great. Really friendly RO's. One of them let me borrow his rifle scope out of his truck.

Check their facebook page for weather updates/discounts.

Not sure about bow areas, I'm sure .22lr's are OK. NICE concrete shooting benches under cover.

I have had my issues with that place. Yes it is five minutes from my house but it will take you 2 hours to zero your AR waiting for everyone to finish shooting to go down range. That loudmouth old man, forgot his name, will annoy you running his mouth about everything your doing. If the ranges are washed out they will pack you into one that may not have the set up you need.
I have not had any luck.
Use their website and built your own targets.....if the holders aren't filled with sand and wood.
i don't see my self going there anytime soon. I had high hopes but really not worth it, I would go to the South Site.
I still enjoy Dragonmans so flame away.

    Went today... nice crosswind
Great range office and officers.. clean, nice and polite
    Shot rifles at Range 2- 25, 50,100,200 & 300 yard target areas.
Beyond that there was 1' steel plates set up at 450, 500 and 600 yards
Steel Antelope Silhouette at 422 yards
There is also some scuba tanks hanging on chain at 800 yards.

Place was clean and well run. I will return.

Only Con I could mention was they don't allow larger-faster magnum rifles like RUM, WSM, Weatherby Mag, Win Mag or Bigger Rifles. Can't take a 7mm Mag or 300 Win Mag yet. They also forbid 338 and 50 cal at the moment, but they are working on it.

My son and I spent most of our ammo on steel. My 13 year old son is now very comfortable taking shots at the steel out to 600 with a .270 Win.

They have their timing set up a little better now. 20 mins hot and 10 mins cold.
One RSO grab my shirt to prevent me from carrying my stuff and sit down. He wanted to give me safety briefing before I even got past the fencing. I told him if he puts his hands on me again, I was going to shoot his ass, safe or not. Buddy had to explain to him that I can't stand very long and had to go sit. I would be back for briefing or he can come visit me. Seems it was a short guy syndrome. Later he had a better attitude.
They have ECI's and target stands. They sell targets, water and glasses if needed.
Don't like the caliber restrictions and honestly I don't see it changing. They should of had that worked out before committing to building on Fed land.

still because it's close and the fact I think Dragoon goon is hooked with the ATF, I'll go to this range.
