why pay for something you can C&P off the board?

I just got pulled over by NM Tooper near Clayton. Gave him my licence and my CCW permit. Got a warning.

    Hooray for reciprocity!

I"m heading down to NM next week on business. Just double-checking my online research -- since they observe reciprocity, it looks like the only thing I have to worry about is that "No Firearms/Weapons/Handguns" signs down there carry the force of law so I'm best advised to leave it in the vehicle if I have to stop at a place with that kind of sign. Anyone know of any other quirks down there that I missed?

Perhaps I missed it, but is there a definitive guide to carrying / transporting on reservations?

Nope, each nation gets to make its own rules. There are agreements that allow for one to carry while passing through tribal lands. Basically you can carry while traveling county, state and fed roads when crossing, but you'd be pushing fate if you stopped and or got out. Carry on tribal lands is usually reserved for special people approved by the tribal council. My basic rule for the rest is as follows. If I'm carrying, I pass through, making sure I'm doing the speed limit. If I do have to stop for gas or the convenience store, I'll pull my piece and leave it locked in the car. If I'm staying for a bit on the rez, then my stuff gets locked in the trunk.
