Interior double door help?

Okay I have a 60 x 80 opening that I want to put a set of french opening doors in.

The one that will work perfectly at home depot (and is pre-hung) is this one:

But it has friggin windows in it.

I would like one that is like the study on my first floor has (basically a left hand and a right hand with locking hardware like the door up above).
Can't I just go to HD and get two identical (left and right hand ) pre-hung doors and combine them?

No. You can do it with non cored doors but its a pain in the ass. Just go special order the one you want.

Edit. You CAN but the handle coring would be wrong and there would be no t stop.

I think the opening dimensions would be different for 2 independent doors as opposed to doubles.

Check places like Bud's Warehouse to see if they have something like that in good condition.

Darn, that is what I was thinking, the difference in door openings, and the hole already being drilled, and a PITA trying to get them to line up perfect, etc.

I was going to perhaps upholster some panels to cover the glass perhaps, but I don't know how much fun that would be.

Bookmarked Bud's Warehouse after seeing the website! That looks like a place where I would have to leave the credit cards at home, because I'd buy lots of stuff there!

You can apply "frosting" sheets (like car window tint but frosted) to the glass - easy project.

Sure, if you want 2 separate doors with a jamb in the middle.

How much time do you have? I have not talked to my door guy in a couple years and need to get back in touch with him in the near future. He is a wiz with this type situation and always seems to have the "extra" parts to build whatever we needed at an incredible price. If interested I could see if he can help and get you in touch with him.

Yeah sure! My contractor dude might be ready soon for a set of doors (he is letting me buy the "finishing touches" of this particular project) but I am sure I can stall him. I do have the checkbook and haven't paid him the last bit yet HA HA.

These doors will be the entrance to a theater room, and right outside is the kid's sitting/play area, so I would like as little light to go through the door as possible. I had thought of frosting them for sure.
