    Default Bowfishing

Any body here into bowfishing? I really want to give it a try and would like some pointers or advice, as well as recommendations as to where to go.

I've done it a lot, but many years ago when you could use the "Carp" for baiting bears. Otherwise, not much that I've known to "bowfish" for?

I'm from Michigan and have done it a lot! It's a blast! Trying to get my buddies out here into it! A recurve and an AMS bow fishing kit from bass pro would be the way to go! I also have a 14ft flat bottom boat.. A Honda generator would be awesome to have but we just used a regular generator and some 500 watt work lights.. Nice platform in the front of the boat and you are having a blast in no time!

South platte is good when the water is low. Also check out Jackson state park. There is a ton of carp there and I think they even do guides that have platforms and boats already set up or you can go out and do it on your own. Last year me and my buddy fished up there and hit several just moving locations in the boat. There are schools of them all over the place. We were after wipers and still caught a few carp as well....they need to be thinned out big time.
All I have in this world is my balls and my word and I don't break em for no one.

Yes it is a kick with a recurve. After 'em every spring/summer. Get the AMS reel system--$75-100 well spent.

The lake up at Pine Valley Park would probably be good for it. Some big ugly slow moving carp in there.

Bowfishing is a blast! Check out our website for all the info you'd need including what species are legal and what lakes are the best around the state. Feel free to ask any questions you may have or if you'd like to get out and give it a try sometime.
