Denver COMBAT Study - Trauma Related
Good stuff coming to Denver EMS
"Today is an historic day, as the Denver Paramedics moved into a new phase of the COMBAT Trial, the first field implementation. The COMBAT trial is the most progressive prehospital and trauma surgery collaborative research trial in the United States. Throughout the course of the trial, the Denver Paramedics will be initiating plasma (AB-FP24) in the field to actively bleeding trauma patients. This will be accomplished using frozen plasma that is thawed at the point of use and administered to critical trauma patients. The Paramedic Division is excited to be a part of this study, and as always, is proud of our trauma system. See the link below for a video."
The following link is a video of Principle Investigator, Dr. E. E. "Gene" Moore, who explains the COMBAT Trial.

This is pretty cool. There is a video series you can find on YouTube called Frontline: Medicine done by the BBC that goes into TCCC and other advances in Military Medicine. One part they hit on is how Emergency Room's in the combat setting have changed how they give blood. Rather than like a 10:1 ratio of RBC's to Plasma to get the O2 capacity back up, they switched to a 1:1 ratio of RBC and Plasma to increase the clotting factor. This has saved so many lives.
This should see some awesome results in trauma save stats. Nice job by Dr. Moore and others at Denver Health Medical Center and James Robinson and others at the Denver Health Paramedic Division.

Good to see battlefield lessons learned being taken seriously and implemented in the civilian sector.

Self control: The minds ability to override the body's urge to beat the living sh.. out of some ass.... who desperately deserves it.
The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government.

Hope this goes well. This will change the dynamics of trauma at the point of injury.
