Default Cherry Creek Family Sports Center - No pistol SBR

Heads up! Not sure how long this has been posted but I went to CCFSC last weekend to sight in my 300 BLK 10.5 rifle at 50 yards and wasn't allowed. Problem is I have it configured with a pistol buffer because I am waiting for my tax stamp to be able to put on a stock and make it an SBR. There is now a sign that states you cannot use a rifle or shotgun with a "pistol only" grip and when I asked, they said it does include pistol buffers. Argh. Just a head up. Good thing I brought my M4 so it wasn't a complete waste of entry fee.

To add to your clarification, Sig braces WITH the pistol tube are ok.

Its been years since I've been there. Do they have separate rifle/pistol sides of the range?

Did they mention a reason why no SBR or AR pistol?

    Thanks for the information.

I went through the same thing about 2 years ago with them. I had just completed an AR pistol build and called them to see if it was okay and was told that it was posted on the range that they weren't allowed. When I asked why I didn't really get a definitive answer just "they're not allowed"

Don't think they said no SBR, just nothing without a stock.

    From the web site..
Q: Can I shoot a pistol grip shotgun?
A: Only if it has an attached shoulder stock. The shotgun must be shot from the shoulder.
My guess is they are not comfortable with the lack of control that a pistol grip only shotgun or rifle may be with some shooters?

There was misunderstanding when we were there too. They wouldn't allow any ar pistol at first, but molon labe, a worker and member here, clarifies it. They won't allow pistol buffer. Slipped in sig arm brace and it was all good.

My apology about the confusion on the SBR. Thanks for the clarification. I guess I'm still unclear on the restriction on use of an AR pistol. Do they believe the lack of a stock makes the weapon unsafe?

I see people shoulder pistol ARs especially when they have a wrapped buffer tube/extension. I don't think I will ever understand the BATFE logic on the SIG brace, but that may be a good thing for me. I have seen at least one vendor is selling a longer buffer tube specifically for the brace. It brings the over all length to the same length as a carbine stock extended to the first lock position. Other than the marketing video, I don't know if anyone is actually slipping that thing on their forearm.

Given the clientele from some of the surrounding areas, I imagine they have had more than a few issues with out-of-control PGO weapons. I suspect a TC Contender in .30-06 would be viewed differently.

A little off topic but I once overheard the rso tell someone they couldn't shoot a pistol because it didn't have a trigger guard. I didn't see the pistol in question.
