Money shifting! I do not like CO DOW! WY on the other hand is leaps and bounds better. That being said I have had great experiences with the Wardens in the field and two people down at the regional office.

Well, I bought my over-the-counter Bull licence for 2nd season as well as an over-the-counter bear license today. Since I also drew out for a buck I feel that I have a FAIR chance of actually harvesting an animal this year.

I gave CO DOW money for free this year! Got a tag and won't be here to use it! That's a stimulus plan!

    GunTroll,

You can turn in your tag and get your money back, if I'm not mistaken.

Calvin - you are NOT mistaken. I drew out a deer tag in 2005 but had to sell it back because I was unemployed and couldn't afford to go to a separate area from where I was going elk hunting.

The CO DOW gives you the option of either getting your Preference Points, or your money back - but not both. Given your situation GunTroll, I'm guessing you'd prefer the cash. The only hitch is that you have to go to an actual DOW office to get it.

not sure about that, my cousin in FL drew a tag but due to a needed back surgery will not be able to use it so they sent him some paperwork and he will get his money back.

I knew that option was available for out-of-state tagholders, but I didnt know it was available to in-state tagholders.

I guess what I really meant to say is that you can't just go to your local Wal-Mart or any other DOW ticket agent to get a refund, it has to go directly through the DOW.

you can get a refund as long as you turn the tag back in before the season starts. go to wal-mart and take a look at the regulations.

EVERYONE needs to read that book each season to keep up on everything.

You're absolutely right about that Sniper. I usually give it a quick browse on and off throughout spring and summer but read the regs from front cover to back just before hunting season begins - it keeps me on the proper side of the law.
