Movers?
Shot at a mover for the first time in a steel match.
Target 66% IPSC, 531 yds, target speed 3 mph, crosswind 12-15 mph. Target traveled back and forth, about 50' between ends. We had four passes, 10 shots max.
The lead for me is 1.7 MILS for 3mph target speed, .8-1 mil wind hold.
My plan was to get slightly ahead of the target, ambush it, get slightly ahead, ambush......that worked well. My break point was the center of the target. Held wind.
Made a rookie match mistake. Watched another shooter in front of me only get off 7 shots in the 4 passes. Let that influence what I did, OK need to shoot fast. I shot way too fast. No doubt I was a little excited/ramp up for the stage as well. Got off 10 shots in 2 2/3 passes, 5 hits. Would have like to hang out at that stage for a day put a couple hundred rounds on that target.
Every match I shoot I try to learn something......... How would I shoot that stage again? Slow down, dial wind, use the leading edge of the target as more defined break point opposed to the center.
For you guys who have shot at movers, what say you?
