Default Anyone live in Falcon/Peyton/Calhan area?

Looking to purchase a home with some acreage (40ish). Only area where it's available and reasonably priced is Falcon area and east of. Anyone live out that way? How is commute to downtown Colorado Springs? I drove through there this past weekend looking at a few properties and it looks like the town is coming along. Would appreciate some weigh in from any members out that way. I know we have a few in Black Forest but tough to get anything over 10 acres without spending big money. Thanks for any feedback!

From Falcon to the actual downtown area is about 20-25 mins. It's about 10 mins to the powers corridor via woodmen or hwy 24.

Are you over in that neck of the woods? 20-25 wouldn't be bad but we will likely end up a few miles outside of town so figure 30-35. Still not too shabby for some peace and quiet!

What is your target price range? Some nice properties just into Douglas county of that size.

I will do that thanks for the recommendation. Hopefully we will get enough space where I can shoot on our property! Range party at T-Giv's house!

I live in Black Forest but have a coworker that is in Calhan. I think it takes him a good 35-40 minutes to get to the south side of Peterson afb. And that's pretty much 24 and Marksheffel so not dealing with any kind of stop and go city traffic. If you heading further downtown I would think it would add a fair bit more time.

Good to know. I am sure you are correct that it's relatively smooth sailing on 24 but getting across town from there is probably rough during peak times. I will have to go test drive the route before we settle on anything out there.

On another note my wife found some gorgeous homes down 115 toward Penrose...anyone on here residing in that area? Would be nice to to stay closer to the mountains I suppose. Anyone know what is available in Penrose? I haven't been through there hardly at all.

Actually my co-worker just said it's more like 45 minutes from Calhan. And that is heading south from Calhan (Ellicott hwy) and coming down 94 to Marsheffel. If he has to go through Falcon and take 24 he said it is even longer. If you are going to the west side of town from Calhan I would bet you are easily looking at 1 hour + commute.

We looked at some places (on line) down Calhan area. Very well priced for the acreage involved. If i could get eyes on the property it would help determine, if the drive was worth it. One place looks like meth central was relocated in a hurry. BUT for the price, it's only a bulldozer away from habitable.
