    Default GMU 11 Elk

Going there for the first time with the muzzleloader this year. I not looking for anyone's secret spot or anything, but any general area suggestions? My hunting partner is there right now scouting, so hopefully he sees something good.

I've studied the Colorado Hunting Atlas maps (awesome resource BTW) and it looks like the western edge of the Unit (Pinyon Ridge area) is my best bet. ANY info would be helpful.

This Unit is South of Maybell? If its open, check out the Red Rose Motel. We stayed there several years ago the owne was intersting. At that time no bed bugs, cheap, and full size fridge for hunting.

I asked a friend and he recommended a trail near the radio towers. I don't know for sure if the towers are in 11 or 211, you cann't miss them on the south side of US 40.

We drove around a bit years ago and right south of Maybell its pretty rocky and dry.

Make sure you know where the public and private land boundaries are. The locals can be jerks. We hunted north of Maybell and a section in the middle of BLM land was suddenly closed off when hunting season opened with 2 locals blocking the road. I think there is some state trust land up there too.

    Good Luck Bacon Guy!!
