The above is true. If you really want a cat, plan on years and years of failure and lots of sitting around with nothing happening. Or invest in a guy with dogs. Plan on being on call or spending some weird hours looking for tracks. When fresh snow falls, he drives roads for hours finding the right tracks of a decent cat, usually done around 1-3 in the am when the cats are moving, if they find something good they let the dogs out and the chase is on, which could be for miles and miles. Then when they get the cat treed you have to get there which can be extremely challenging. Then decide if it is a quality cat or not and take your shot or leave it be.
