I stumbled across this video below and thought that would be freakin' awesome to have during hockey season. So I want to make my own. The only issue is I really have no idea what I'm doing.
Here is the original article from reddit.
I would like mine to be a little different, but follow the same idea. Everything will be centered around the audio player, which the Dream Player LITE. I already have the audio files of the Avs goal horn and song. This audio player allows for a trigger input, audio output, and control output.
Audio output will just be basic powered speakers that connect to the audio player via 3.5mm headphone jack and plug into the wall for power like these. They don't have to be super awesome speakers, just loud enough for the goal horn/song to be heard in my living room. I don't think there should be any issues with speakers like these just plugging in, right?
Next is the trigger input. There are a few different ways to go with this, but I was thinking a bluetooth connection operated by an app on my phone would be awesome. This guy uses a bluetooth headset as a trigger to open his garage door. Is there any reason why it wouldn't work to trigger the audio board? Would I need a relay? If so, what kind?
Next is the control output. The only thing that would need to be controlled is the light. Here is the light I was thinking about getting. The audio player can be configured to shut off the control output when the music is shut off. This time I think I know I need a relay to power the lights. Right? Again, what relay should I use?
Finally would be the power supply. Everything is 12VDC except for the speakers, so I was thinking of using a power supply like this. Will this one work?
Are there any flaws with my idea, or any parts that would work better? Remember, I am stupid when it comes to electrical/wiring/circuits/etc, so if you are gonna try to explain something to me you're gonna need to dumb it down. Also, if anybody is feeling generous and wants to draw up a wiring diagram, that would be a huge help. I don't know if you can without actually having the components. I know I sure as hell can't. I think the biggest problem I'm running into is how to properly wire/use the relays. I think I know what to do, but am just not sure.
Thanks in advance for your guys' input!
