    Default Clear Creek County Range

    Hello,

Can anyone tell me about this club? Thoughts on the range, opinions of the folks, etc? Are they generally accepting of new folks or is a bit of a good old boys club? Their website is somewhat lacking in information and there's not much out there on the interweb about this place.

    Thanks in advance!

What more would you like to know than is on the website? It's not a "good old boys" club. As far as a two-year wait goes- I was there yesterday morning, a new members range orientation was being held. I spoke with the man doing the orientation about open membership. What he told me was that 100 or so drop off every year, for whatever reason, and that he thought membership was open. Give them a call. It's a good place to shoot.

If you live in Clear Creek you get priority for membership.
There is a waiting list for out of county but you should call and find out what actual wait time is as this is nice place to shoot and membership is very reasonable.
You will need to provide proof of firearms safety class and you get a discount for N.R.A. membership.
Why not get on the list? If you get in soon, great! If not, you only spent a few minutes on the application.
    Good luck!

As one of the heaviest users of the range...

CC is a good club and a great range, especially for pistol. I'm with Moto in that it's not a "good ole boys club" per se. As is the case with most of the outdoor ranges, you're doing your own thing when you're out there. As long as you follow the rules, don't shoot the target stands (my pet peeve), don't use/shoot the CCPS (IPSC) props, pick up after shooting, etc. all is great. Weekdays, there is virtually no one there.
Rifle ranges are 100 yds (two, with good shooting houses).
I always hear the same wait list stories too but it seems like Tom Peck is out there pretty much every weekend doing new shooter orientation so the list must be moving.
My only caution on CCCSC is be prepared for the weather. AM is usually clear sailing but the afternoons are very sketchy. Microbursts are common but seem to move through pretty quickly.

My brother just got in there. I think he was on the list for about 6 months.

I would guess you probably have a good shot at getting on in a few months. My guess is money is tight across the board and some people will let their membership lapse.
