Had the same thing happen on a 50 inch Vizio, apparently it's an issue with capacitors on the video board, but I chose not to mess with it. Supposedly an easy fix, but I could never find the time to screw with it, and a 60 inch LED was down to about $1500 bucks

I've done cap replacements on TVs before, and it's not a terrible job, if you're a competent solderer who's not afraid to tinker with electronics. Given what such a fix would cost you at a repair shop, it's probably worth just buying a new TV if you're not willing and able to research the repair and do it yourself.

I'd give it a shot yourself. I'm 1 for 2 in fixing TVs by replacing capacitors. I fixed my brother's TV by replacing a few capacitors, but the fix didn't work on one of mine.

Heck... What do you have to lose? Spend $20 on a few capacitors and you'll know within about an hour's worth of work if you've saved the cost of replacing your TV.

    Agreed.

    Agreed.

I have fixed one TV and one computer monitor this way. $20 and an hour of my time is totally worth not having to spend $500+ on a new TV.

    Agreed. DIY or replace.

I have an in-circuit ESR meter if you want to bring it over or use the meter.

They use the cheapest shit caps they can so often there are visible signs of bulging or leakage. Otherwise just start shotgunning it in sections depending on what it's doing, assuming you can't locate a similar model repair info online. If it seems to power up but no video, I'd start at the video section if it can be identified and go from there. However, it's more likely to be the power supply. I do have test equipment here, but don't do TV's generally other than knowing what not to touch.

I have a pretty good supply of caps here but mostly higher grade audio caps so the general purpose and power cap supply is a bit more limited. I'd be willing to lend a hand, but if replacements for caps I already have are not available, we would have to order something equivalent as I have some that are impossible to find now and prefer to keep them for my future audio repairs. I've an account with both Digikey and Mouser so getting parts is not a problem.

Shoot me a PM if you want to drag it to Parker and carry it to the basement shop.

There are no Vizio service centers, outside of the one year warranty there is no factory repair support, they are built to be thrown away. the only option is a DIY repair.

sent from a soup can and some string..
