Last week I heard a lot of bugles and called a monster in to 11 yards and when I drew back on him my arrows which hang lower than my bow drug across the fallen tree in front of me and he stopped with his head behind a tree. Which would have been perfect except he also had brush covering his vitals. I went back and forth in my head to try to put one through the brush at him and just when I found a hole and decided to shoot which was almost 2 whole seconds he bolted! Sucked! I was crazy bummed. I ran into another bull bugling and he was probably only 60 yards away I should have bugled back but instead I gave cow calls and he circled down wind and walked of bugling! I don't know if he smelled me or just didn't smell a cow but he didn't blow out or anything. Couldn't go this weekend but hoping to go next weekend.
What area was this? Private ground or public? Good amount of hunting pressure?
