Default Tracking down an unpublished business address.

I have the company name and their phone number. They don't have a website I can find. They won't give me the physical address they operate from. I have the address of where the LLC is registered at but it's not the location they operate from. Are there anyway free ways to track down an address using the phone number? I know it's a CenturyLink landline in Cheyenne, WY.

Does Wyoming have a regulatory agency like DORA, here in CO? Maybe they can help?

Wyoming is one of only a couple of states that allow anonymous business registration. I've never seen an LLC successfully cloak its ownership (normally requires a corporation formed by a licensed WY attorney and then legally protected under client/attorney privilege), but if there is any state that allows it, Wyoming would be the one. Also, Cheyenne is known to the the center of these 'off-the-shelf' and anonymous corporations with thousands (maybe tens of thousands) operating out of a single small building. With a little digging, I am sure you can dig up some more information to compare with what you already know to see if they match.

Probably not what you wanted to hear.

They might not even have a "physical" operating address. For instance I have my own company here in CO. My Llc has my home address listed as my location as a officer of the llc but my business street address is just a ups store post office box. There would be nothing to stop me from using another p.o.box address as my officer mailing address.

Try searching the Wyoming Secretary of State website. You should be able to search for LLC info.

I did find them on the Sec of State website. The listed address matches up with the registered agents address. Just a different suite number. The agent is Capital Administrations LLC. Sounds like one of the anonymous corp deals to me.

Depending on how far you want to take this, an LLC should not have the same ability to separate itself from its owners that a corporation enjoys. It would likely require you to engage legal counsel in WY to expose the ownership if the LLC has worked to cloak it. Also, just FYI (and in case you did not know), legal service must be accepted by their registered agent, so to that extent, you now have some measure of getting to the owners.

One more thing to consider - if you *do* elect to initiate any form of legal action/service, the likeliest response from one of these shell companies will be to just fold up shop. Something to consider before sinking any $$ into this.

If you are, as required, listed with the CO secretary of state, they would be the one to stop you from listing only PO boxes.

Google search of their address turns up this gem:
