Just can't carry it.

Legal to own, not legal to carry. I know a lot of people that still carry that are not LEO

My Feedback
Chop one hand off, then you're legal to carry.
My auto's stay in the safe since I got my CHP. Not worth jeopardizing it.
I do miss carry that beast (Gerber 06 Auto).
AFAIK, legal to carry = LEO, Paramedic, Active Mil, Handicapped.

I always wanted a Microtech.
Not legal to carry, but honestly... if contacted by LE... I don't think they're going to give two shits about the knife on me.. That's in theory.. but I don't give cops a reason to talk to me beyond on a personal level. If they're worried about the knife and want to press the issue so be it.. I'm not afraid to jump into the ring. Have I dealt with asshole cops before yes... it never got beyond that I have a permit and I am carrying. Only once did it go bad from a rookie cop who was a bit freaked. I carry my microtech a lot. It's a really fancy box opener.
On a side note... I was asked for assistance opening something at work, and out came the microtech.. the girl who asked for assistance was a bit shocked that I had a knife in my pocket and asked why I would need to carry that.. the office manager who was standing there, let out a laugh and her eyes got big. She did really well holding in her laughter at someone being scared of my knife when there was a gun less than 8" away from the knife in the pocket. Yes.. a few people at work know I carry.

IIRC Colorado basically follows Fed law on them.....I think you can carry if on duty and carrying out govt duties, emergency response and active military on duty stuff like that. Or if you only have one hand...that's in the fed wording iirc. I'm no lawyer and that isn't legal advice, there are several sites dedicated to the subject of automatic knife legalities state by state. I'd think that just to collect them, who is ever going to know what you have in your house or really care - but federal law really restricts sales across state lines and who can order them so you'll likely be paying a premium at a show or on the street for one (or I hear there are guys who will mail you one, but I think that would be questionable). Watch out for fakes, idk about Benchmade but when I bought my Microtech I contacted them to verify it's authenticity (contacted them and one of the production managers had me email pics and the serial number).
I use to carry an out the front Auto Micro Tech knife and did so for several years without issue. I never got officially questioned about it from on duty police officers. But I have several shooting buddies that are police officers and they all had the basic stance of "I know its cool and all, but is carrying it worth risking getting a Felony and you can't buy firearms legally any more?". After thinking about that fact, I stopped carrying it. As with others, my OTF Auto knife was nothing more than a glorified box opener so it didn't make sense to risk getting a felony over something like that.
After that I switched to a light weight ceramic blade knife and it works just as good at cutting open boxes as my OTF Auto knife did.
