    Default The silk purse CZ-52

So I always have had this soft spot for commie guns. I guess part of it was that back in the day they were cheap. The fit/finish of my Mak's and tokarev was very nice but then we come to the 52. Anyone that has had one knows that they must have bought the cutters used to make these from the bargain bin. Just take a look. Click image for larger version.

    Looks nice.

I would not mind a 9mm barrel for my 52 so I could shoot the thing more. Though I have seen X25 new production ammo available right now for about $15/50. Might round some up and shoot the old beast. Wonder how it compares to the HOT 50 year old sub gun ammo I have shot.

The only thing I have noticed with new ammo is the rounds seem to have a light tension on the neck. I did a test way back when with my 52 and Fal carbine on surplus ammo and the 80's S&B and the 50's Bulgy were the best for me. Sad thing was the nice clean Romanian that AIM had looked like a shotgun pattern @ 100 yards.

I love the commie guns too. Not only were they cheap, but they functioned well. Crude and overbuilt but seemed to always function. There are several of them I wish I had picked up back in the 80's when they were real bargains.

    Looks good.

They are crude and cold, like the countries they came from. But they'll run.

Wow Jerry, that looks great. Any ideas to get away from the magazine heel release?

Actually yes but i am too far along with the way it is. The Tokarev uses the same mags with a cut in them. adding a mag release could be doable with some off the shelf parts. I thought about this today and after doing some measurements..... I might look again tomorrow.
