Need help with pedastal sink

Home remodel....

Tore out an old cabinet sink. Replacing with a pedastal sink.

Did the plumbing, etc.

Everything is good to go EXCEPT:

How do I tighten the the screws on the underside of the sink that go into the wall. There is not enough space for a screwdriver, etc.... I can't grab with fingers due to the angle.

going on day six of no sink in the restroom, would like to get it finished up...

Usually run lags into studs or blocking with ratchet and socket( we always recommend add blocking in the wall to secure ped top).

What kind fastener did you get with pedastal? Are they not hex head? Can you take couple pics?

Get hex screws so you can use a wrench?

Ped sinks are a pain all the way around.

There was no fastener included with the ped sink... We talked to the folks at Lowe's and they gave us screws with washers, etc... They are not hex head. I am thinking I will have to cut the head off somehow and put on a nut maybe? But then, how do I get a tool up behind there to cut it? We can't simply pull them out because the wing/toggle/metal molly/whatever it is called is already in the wall. I would really hate to pull them out and then have to redo the drywall... I'm already over my head $$ wise.

And something else, how do I tighten the screw, I'd have to pull it towards me so teh wings behind the wall could provide purchase but then.... oh man, I'm all confused.

It sounds like you are using butterflies with a Phillips head machine screws. If that is the case then I see why struggling. That can be overcome.

Go to hardware/big box store and get butterfly that has hex head screw so that you can use a ratchet to tighten(1/4" drive is best, 3/8" should work, may even be able to use $5 nut driver).

When inserting butterfly, thread screw in 3/4 of the way and back screw out and push butterfly in a little at a time as needed for butterfly to just clear drywall and pop open. That will be least amount of slack to take up.

Use shim, narrow putty knife or even kitchen butter knife inserted behind head of screw to hold out on it.

Too late, but toggles ? As long as it's not in a kids room , or where a lot of little ones will make use of it you're ok.

Yes, butterflies, I couldn't think of the name! So, I should just unscrew the ones I have now and let them fall behind the wall and start anew?
