He posted that that membership cost is related to "online training" so I would imagine that not much content would be excluded if you chose not to pay it.

It's still going to be free for what has been free but that new site is fricken horrible to try and read. All the old info is going to be archived on the old site as read only.

I think the site will survive but the old hands will be gone for the most part, BTDT with other forums and it never turns out well.

That is exactly what I think will happen the new blood they want to attract will kill any resemblance to what the site was originally intended to be but they will still get their add money so in their eyes "no harm no foul" as long as the money flows.

I have a friend who talks like he lives on the site. I'm curious to ask him about these developments.

Frank has stated that if it doesn't work out, he can still activate the old site and pull the plug on Scout. He still owns all rights to Snipershide. The old site will be a read only. And can be reactivated by Frank at any time.

Also, the new site is not finished yet. It is somewhat live at this time.

If this is true that is good news.

This is what Frank *should* have said:

    Dear Suckers,

Thank you for all your hard work over the years - creating free content and making me a top destination on the web. I am now going to take all of your hard work and info and sell out. Fuck you all. I'm 'rich'.

    - Frank
What is my joy if all hands, even the unclean, can reach into it? What is my wisdom, if even the fools can dictate to me? What is my freedom, if all creatures, even the botched and impotent, are my masters? What is my life, if I am but to bow, to agree and to obey?

He might actually say that to your face. Frank, if nothing else, is direct. I for one won't be checking out Scout. The vacuum will get filled by someone, if it indeed exists.

I don't resent someone "taking the Boeing" as we used to call it. Monetizing a blog/forum is perfectly legitimate. But it does sound like its being done incompetently, which will destroy the very value supposedly being bought.

Don't for a second think that the old "SnipersHide" was not monetized, and making a significant chunk of change.
