Default Looking at inexpensive .22WMR rifle options

I'm thinking of getting a .22WMR rifle, inexpensive cuz I'm broke and won't use it a lot. Would like to stay under $300.

Mainly for varmint shooting, not target. Anyone have any experience with any of the following?

    • Marlin XT-22MVSR ProFire 22 WMR Rifle 22" - fits my budget, not sure of the "new" Marlin QA on their rifles though?
    • CZ 512 semi-auto - outside of my budget but I like the idea of a semi-auto!
    • Ruger American - don't know much about these...

Any other options out there I should consider? Perhaps I should be looking for a used CZ 455?

I'd like to stay with .22WMR cuz I have other firearms in that caliber, don't want to add a new one if I can help it, unless it comes with a ton of ammo!

I just recently got a Winchester pump 22 mag at Cabela's off the used rack in Lone Tree. It was $160 it works great and plenty accurate even had a cheap scope but still works. If your not looking for a high end target model not a bad option. That Cabela's seems to get used 22 mag rifles in fairly often. I picked this one up because I already had the matching model in 22 LR

I love my Marlin rimfire rifles but they are the previous model.

Savage rimfire rifles are very nice too.

I picked up a Marlin XT-22 in 22 mag about a year ago, and it shoots great, but....

The front sight was canted quite a bit to the right. Called Marlin and they didn't care...told me that's why the gun has an adjustable rear sight. Since I was scoping the rifle anyway I just removed the front sight and filled the hole with JB weld, but yeah....Marlin's QC (and customer service) hasn't been the best lately.

Savage Model 93. Basic scoped models new around $300. Also have a suppressor ready model.

I'll second this. I have 93 in .17HMR, and love it. I have been keeping an eye out for a screaming deal on one in .22WMR, as it would use the same mags.

A buddy loaned his to my wife for p - dogs on a trip last year, even with her physical limitations she whacked the hell out of them at 80-120 yds.

Not a .17 cal fan. Will stick to the 22 mag.

The wife likes 22 mag, easy to go along with.

New 22 semi pistol gets raised eyebrow, new 22mag wheel gun gets instant okey dokey.
