went out with this loon last tuesday, to a location we cannot disclose. it was east of
I-25 though.
got there at daybreak, so unfortunately no coyotes advanced upon our position. However, I think I just need to bring my coyote call next time & show this buck rook how to do it. could be.
Driving towards the p-dog holes, a coyote was spotted. However, we are such law-abiding citizens that we did not have a loaded rifle in the vehicle & would have never shot less than 50 ft. from the road. Yeah, ok. Anyways he got away.
Upon sighting in, my .223 AI would not group at all, whether the GunTroll or myself was behind the trigger. 3" is not proper, but we left anyways. My scope mount was jacked up upon further review, rifle sucked all day. base was purchased at wal-mart, fits a remington 700 perfect but is haggard on a howa 1500. could have also been due to fireforming military 5.56 to my chamber. ??
I may have maimed a few, but the jist of it is this: on the walk, the .17HMR slayed these skanks w/ no remorse. Lightweight, accurate, good distance...the epitome of a rifle not shot from the bench. GunTroll's .22-250 AI on sandbags tagged ass like Hugh Hefner, relentlessly. I got on a few & proceeded to bogart ammo as I became giddy with the ease of hits. Not much Kentucky windage necessary on this rifle, 1.25" bull barrel need I say more.
All in all, My lack of kills lent me to buying the cheeseburgers on the way home. to tell you where might give up our location, so I'll leave it at that.
With some new scope mounts, magic dust, & prayers, I believe my .223 AI will be the happy median between .17HMR & .22-250 AI...leaving GunTroll with the dinner tab when we ride again.
