Has anyone called Klingenschmitt to tell him that he has exactly one term in which to do one very simple job: repeal gun control.

He can be as much of a whack job as he likes in his own home (and frankly, I'd bet dollars to donuts he's a hardcore closet case), but he needs to be busting his butt through this entire term to hold the Dems feet to the fire and do everything he can to repeal the gun control laws that were passed.

So the good news is this guys in the House, which is Dem controlled so it's unlikely he'll be able to pass anything too crazy. This is always the risk you take, when you have to vote to defend something more important (gun control) you may sacrifice something you value just a little less, but that you still hate to sacrifice. However, I don't fundamentally believe that a Repub majority will push us into a gay bashing, personhood loving crazy society, because at the end of the day, the most die hard Repub has to wonder what he'd do if his own daughter got pregnant in some horrible, non-consensual way, or how he'd treat his own gay son. I do know from experience though, that Dems have very little issue destroying the basic human rights of themselves and everyone else in the state, so I have to oppose that.

THe problem is that any time the Dems need to whip up the base, all they'll need to do is point a video camera in the general direction of this weirdo, and *poof* instant left-wing voter outrage.

The problem with guys like Klingerwhatever is that they have a habit of shooting their mouth off without first giving a modicum of thought to how it can blow back on them.

I don't, either, simply because contraception, abortion, and gay rights are all set in stone at this point. The problem is the group of Republicans who don't seem to realize that continued agitation about these issues is costing their party votes and popular support with the majority of the electorate.
