I've never had a problem with my single stage MTD. Yes you cannot wait until the end of the storm when there is 10+ inches on the gound, but if i know there is a big storm coming I just head out when its 4" on the ground. The trick to single stage for ME is to use the impeller to "drive" the machine. The impeller has a rubberish edge for excellent cleaning. Slush.... Don't even try!

I have a dual stage now, not all dual stages are awesome. The impellers usually do not have any rubber on them, so you have to adjust the scraper on the bottom. The impeller on the 2nd stage throwers have a large gap so it's worthless in anything less than 4". UNLESS you modify them, google "snow blower impeller mod".

Shoveling snow keeps you young and healthy.

I've only been around here for about 15 years. In all those years I can only remember two days where I wished I had a snow blower.

Hey bob can he at least come and blow your snow ! I digress. My recommendation is an older used john deere snow blower the one I bought two years ago is from the 80's and runs like a top and replacement parts if needed are very much available from john deere.

I bought a used JD blower (from the 80's), put a new electric start engine on it (from northern tool). It's like a tank.

Well, after Tommorow's snow storm he can come clear my driveway, but he has to do my elderly neighbor's too, I always clear hers when I do mine..............

Not with one spark it isn't. 4 Stroke, yes. 4 cyl, no.
