Oh wise one thank you for chiming in. Will definitely take a look.

Also, I think it should be noted that additionally we park our cars in the garage but I still believe they should warm up on bitter mornings for at least a few minutes. The cars are locked however I would like a sensor up while the garage is open and I step back into the house.

I know I should probably stay with the car, but that's not going to happen.

I don't think you need to be overly complicated with a driveway sensor, because when the door is closed, no one will likely be able to get close enough to trip the sensors anyway.

EDIT: Oops, there were like 10 posts before I got mine in. Looks like you're taken care of at this point.

Hell no. I put my hours into that stupid transmission last month. Now I work on it 10 minutes at a time.

I have a two year old chamberlain opener that has programmable close times. I currently have it set to close after 5 mins of no activity in the garage. Doesn't alarm you or anything, but it prevents the door from accidentally staying open.

Your garage door should already have a IR sensor that keeps it from closing when an object is in the doorway and it turns on the garage door lights if you or some one enters or exits when the garage door lights timed out.
Just rig a 120 VAC buzzer or horn to the opener light circuit, and a switch for when you don't want it sounding.
Open the garage door wait for the Light to time out, most can be set for the time period, then turn on the switch for the alarm. When the sensor beam is broken, the light will come on and the alarm will sound.
My T.P. wheeling and dealing feedback is here.

Opinions are like assholes, everybody has one, and it stinks more than mine.
